Marketing analysis and reporting

Marketing analysis connects each digital action (ads, SEO, social, email) to real results: traffic, leads, sales and acquisition cost. 5,000 to 20,000 MAD to set up in Morocco, then monthly.

Marketing analysis is not about collecting charts. It is about answering a simple question: does every dirham invested in marketing bring back customers, and at what cost? To answer it, you need reliable tracking, shared definitions and a monthly reading of the gaps. ## A single dashboard When each provider sends their own report, the figures do not talk to each other. A common dashboard, with written definitions and the same periods, makes it possible to compare channels and decide where to reallocate the budget. ## The channels invisible in Morocco Calls, WhatsApp and message orders generate a significant share of sales and do not appear in web analytics. They must be counted, otherwise the analysis underestimates the campaigns that trigger a direct conversation. ## A report that leads to a decision A good report reads in five minutes and ends with actions. If a month of analysis changes no decision, it is not because everything is fine: it is because the report does not say enough.

When this guide is for you

  • You invest in advertising without knowing precisely which channel brings customers
  • Each provider sends you their own report, all with different figures
  • You need to justify your marketing budget to management or investors
  • You want to stop one channel or strengthen another but lack data
  • Your analytics tracking has gaps: uncounted conversions, double counting, missing pixels

Step by step

  1. Tracking audit — Check what is measured: Google Analytics 4, form conversions, calls, purchases, WhatsApp messages. Identify missing events and duplicates.
  2. Defining indicators — Choose 5 to 8 indicators aligned with business objectives (cost per lead, conversion rate, average basket, advertising return on investment) rather than tracking everything with no hierarchy.
  3. A shared dashboard — Bring data from all channels into a single report, with shared definitions and the same comparison periods. Everyone looks at the same truth.
  4. Analysis and recommendations — Each month, explain the gaps, identify the causes (seasonality, competition, campaign changes) and propose 2 to 4 concrete, prioritised actions.
  5. Decision loop — Apply the actions, then measure their effect the following month. A report with no decision is a cost, not an investment.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Relying on the number of clicks and likes instead of the leads and sales actually recorded
  • Comparing periods of different lengths or overlapping channels, then drawing false conclusions
  • Not recording conversions when a customer contacts you by WhatsApp or phone, which is common in Morocco
  • Receiving a report full of charts but with no explanation of causes or recommended action
  • Changing provider without carrying over the tracking: you lose the history that makes comparison possible

Frequently asked questions

Is Google Analytics 4 enough to analyse marketing?

It is a solid starting point for web traffic and conversions. It does not see calls, WhatsApp messages or in-store sales, which are often essential in Morocco. They need to be consolidated in a shared dashboard.

Which indicators to track first?

Cost per qualified lead, form conversion rate, advertising return on investment and the share of organic traffic. These four indicators are enough to steer most SMEs.

Why do my figures differ between my site and the ad network?

The ad network counts clicks on the ad, your site counts sessions, and attribution mechanisms overlap. Gaps of 10 to 20 % are normal. What matters is the trend and the comparison between channels, not perfectly matching figures.

How often should a report be produced?

A monthly report is enough for most SMEs, along with an immediate alert if a campaign exceeds its budget or the site goes down. For an active campaign, a 15-minute weekly check-in can help.

Do you need a paid tool to measure well?

No. GA4, Tag Manager and Looker Studio are free and cover most needs. A paid tool such as Matomo or an attribution server becomes useful for server-side tracking or sectors highly sensitive to personal data.
